My photo is to comment on how society sees African Americans in the media but as strong rolls while at the same time keeping that historical attributes. The first black super hero was Black Panther and most the media would rather not have a black hero at the time that came out so they put a mask and a full body suit to cover that and on top of that he was an African man that power made him become an animal. Yet he was a man that ruled a unconquered nation and had even more advanced technology than Iron man. this character reminds me of leaders of the civil rights movement along with many others. Until 9 years ago we never had African American to have lead the free world and my picture is a tribute to the heroes that fought for the rights of all men and women, as well as the comic boo heroes that paver the road for African Americans to be portrayed as strong and leaders to people that are constantly having to fight.
with each of the leaders i paired a character based on there characteristics. Martin Luther King as Falcon. a free spirit that leads and is intelligent also because of the time period when he showed up during the civil rights movement. and in the background i changer the opacity on some of the pictures that pertain o the civil rights movement. Including photos of the black panther party and the march to selma and some modern photos of protest African Americans fight today making it more relevant to today.
